INGREDIENTS

Cookie Dough

½ lb. butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla
¼ teaspoon salt
2 ½ cups flour

Icing

1 egg white
1 cup powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in eggs, vanilla, and salt. Stir in flour.
  • Divide dough and chill.
  • Roll dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut shapes. Place dough shapes on parchment-lined pans to bake. Chill leftover scraps before re-rolling.
  • Bake 10 minutes until golden brown. Cool.
  • Combine icing ingredients. (Icing can be colored at this point if desired. If icing will be used to cover the surface of each cookie, add additional powdered sugar to stiffen.). Use icing as "glue" for added sprinkles, glitter, sugar or to stack different cookies.
