Love That Heals

Grief. Heartbreak. Hard days we never saw coming. Somehow, even in those moments, a slice of sweetness can offer comfort. At Dessert Gallery, we’ve witnessed desserts become hugs in disguise, delivered by friends, family, or even ourselves. This chapter is dedicated to the healing kind of love that reminds you that joy can still exist on the hardest days.

I’ve never been a chocolate fan. In fact, I used to avoid chocolate cakes altogether—too sweet, too heavy, too much frosting. But everything changed one day when my boyfriend surprised me during my period with a slice of Dessert Gallery’s Mom’s Chocolate Cake.
One bite, and I was a goner. The cake was so soft, it practically melted in my mouth, and the frosting—oh, the frosting! I never thought I’d be someone who loved frosting, but Dessert Gallery proved me wrong. This wasn’t just any cake, it was the cake.
Since that day, Dessert Gallery is the only place I’ll ever eat chocolate cake from—no exceptions. It’s become a tradition now: on the first day of my period, my boyfriend sends me a slice, and that single slice becomes my three-course meal. Somehow, with every forkful, the cramps feel lighter, my mood gets brighter, and life just feels sweeter.
For me, love at Dessert Gallery wasn’t love at first sight—it was love at first bite. - Disha A.

About a year ago, I was a D1 track athlete: healthy, active, and driven. But when I was diagnosed with severe anorexia, everything changed.

What saved me was my mom. She came to the hospital every morning at 6 a.m., went to work, and returned every evening to sit with me until visiting hours ended. She never missed a day. She sat with me, ate with me, believed in me, and helped me find my way back to life.

She continues to be my biggest cheerleader. For Mother's Day I knew I had to do something special.
She’s obsessed with Dessert Gallery’s sugar cookies, so I reached out and shared our story and was able to surprise my mom with the cutest butter cookies, her favorite! - Elaina R.

I’m so thankful for your desserts—they bring my family together around the table. The first time we came to Dessert Gallery was during a tough time: I had just undergone emergency spinal cord surgery right around the holidays. Normally, my mom, my grandmother, and I would bake together for Thanksgiving. But that year, we came to Dessert Gallery instead—and we’ve come back ever since! – Linda R.

I remember when Trevor went into practice in the mid-80s before you were Dessert Gallery and we took bags of cookies to all the doctors. They were always a hit! – Ruth R.

When my roommate and I both went through breakups in the same month, we made a pact: no tears without treats. We ordered a full spread from DG: brownies, banana pudding, the works and had the coziest night in. Since then, DG has been our go-to comfort stop. Now we celebrate everything there, from new jobs to “just because it’s Tuesday.” It’s more than dessert it’s part of our healing (and happiness) journey. - Jordan P.
